    Re: DSL Connection annoyingly slow

Was going to create a new thread but I'll just bump this one.

Anyone using the ATT Uverse max plus or max turbo? I'm uploading over 3,000 photos from last week and regular DSL just doesn't cut it anymore for the amount of work I do. Just wondering what kind of UP speeds people are getting.

I don't use it personally, but from the people that I know that have the service they've said it's been great.

Lozt has the 16MB U-Verse connection. Not sure what his up is. He can fill you in. Let me look right and tell him to read this post

If you are asking about upload then Uverse might upset you a bit. Their upload speeds are around 1 meg. I do get a good constant 1 meg a second. I love the internet connection and speed, it stays constant at both the download and upload and does not slow down or do any burst stuff.

I think some of the cable companies offer higher upload speeds but just check with people in your area to make sure they are actually getting those upload speeds constantly and not just in spurts.

Yeah I may just have to go cable. Down isn't as important as up as that's what keeps me from getting my work to my clients. I'll do a bit more research but thanks for the input. Could you post a speedtest.net if it's not too much trouble?

    Damn.

Is it a technology limit thing or do companies not want you to have porn servers to share with your friends.

They are really just trying to keep people from hosting at their houses from what I can tell.

I will run a speed test tonight and post it for you from Uverse, my last test had my download at 17.5 and my upload at 1.46 or so. Charter cable in my area goes up to 5mb up but you have to buy the 60mb down package to get that and that costs $139.00 a month.

Uverse does have a new top tier package that cost $65 bucks a month ($10 more than mine) and it is suppose to have a 3mb upload spead which might be more what you are looking for and not a horrible price. That speed is much closer to what cable offers also.

My DSL used to be 1.5Mbps/768Kbps and I ran web/mail servers off it. Ah back in the day.

Currently my FIOS is 15Mbps/5Mbps. Take it if you can get it. I think their top plan available is 50Mbps/20Mbps at $140/mo. Guess it all depends how much you think you need it.

15mb/3mb here but it's with the local company I work for, NTS communications/Xfone USA. You can get the 15mb/3mb 200 channels of TV with an HDDVR that records and plays in any room with a 2nd set top box and a home phone for $79.
