Ok so I have been out of the Playstation Portable since I always owned a DS or played games on my IOs device, but last month I picked up a Vita since it was calling me ever since CES.

I really don't have anything great to say about the game that are actually out for the Vita but there are some really addictive and fun older games that are available on the PSN network. I know they are based on old PS2 games and things like that but the story and games have really grabbed me.

For an old school JRPG I picked up Persona 3. I really dig the mix of an RPG strategy fighting game with the high school simulator. You spend the evenings fighting monsters in the tower that shows up on the school grounds at Midnight but during the day you actually play a simplified high school simulator trying to make social connections with friends, club members and even a girlfriend if you can hook up with on. It sounds crazy but I got sucked into it for a good 20+ hours and I am not even close to finishing the story.

For a break from the RPG aspect I picked up Monster Hunter Freedom Unite. This game has a total MMO element to it but the social aspect is not online it is designed to group up and play together locally. (though there are work arounds to get it to work online also) You basically take quests that get progressively harder while trying to collect enough materials (through mining, herb, bug catching, fishing, and even skinning) to make new armor, weapons and specialty equipment. Because of the design you really get addicted to keep going with the hope of getting that last item you need to make your new weapon or armor. The fact that there are 11 different weapon types ranging from dual daggers to bows and guns really give the game replay value and some depth. I can't seem to put this game down lately and I have not even had a chance to group with someone and see how the team aspect could change the strategies.

Well this was just a bit of a rant while I shared the older games that have sucked up most of my time lately. If you guys know of any other good older PlayStation portable games that might be fun to check out chime in and let me know.
